To perform a calf raise, start in standing position, your feet together. Lift yourself onto your toes, raising your heels off the ground. Now place your heels back onto the ground - and that's a wrap. Repeat!
Calf raise varations
These are two simple ways to increase the effectiveness of calf raises: either perform them while standing on a (lightly) elevated object with your toes, allowing your heels to drop down a little further than they would on the floor, or perform single leg calf raises - basically doubling the workload.
Please note
If you're not used to training your calf muscles, be careful with the aforementioned varations: your calves are crucial for running, walking and even day to day life, so making them strong makes sense (and you will benefit greatly from it), but overdoing it may really set you back.
