Exercise explained: Lunges.php

Lunges.php

Lunges are great for preparing your legs for uphill running and those nice intervals in between obstacles. They will strengthen your glutes, thighs, hamstrings as well as your calves. What more do you want?

Start in standing position, your feet together. Now take a slightly-bigger-than-average step forward with one foot, keeping your other foot in place. Upon landing on your front foot, drop your back knee down to just above the ground. This should take your front leg into a 90° angle.

Now push yourself back up with your front leg, until you've returned to your starting position. Repeat on the other side.

Please note
Keep your back straight. Don't give in to fatigue by leaning forward with your head and / or shoulder. Keep your spine nicely aligned in order to A) make the most of the exercise; and B) prevent injuries.
